RE:              COMPUTERIZATION OF CAFETERIA REGISTERS

I am extremely pleased to announce that Abraham Clark High School will be implementing the QSP computerized point of sale system (POS) in the cafeteria.

 What does this mean?
·  OUT with the ticket system for pre-paid, reduced, and free lunches
·  IN with the debit system (a card swipe system)

Instead of sending in money to purchase tickets, your cash/checks will be deposited into your child’s account and purchases of lunch or Ala Carte items will be deducted from their account.  This will greatly reduce paperwork and confusion, and help our lunch lines by reducing the number of cash transactions and increasing the number of debit card lunch sales.

Startup is scheduled for Friday, November 18, 2005.  Students who wish to deposit money in the debit system may do so during their perspective lunch period at this time.

Lastly, and for your information, ALL Students at Abraham Clark High School will be issued a temporary id card with a four digit pin which he or she will use to obtain lunch. Shortly thereafter, student pictures will be integrated into the new POS system and will be put on an ID card.  Upon issuance of the new photo identification, students purchasing food items will use this card to pay for their lunch.

If the student is receiving Free or Reduced type meals that will be indicated in code on the cashier’s screen.

Please encourage your child to bring this card to school daily whether or not he or she is buying a lunch as a means of identification.
