Welcome Back!
To the students, parents, and staff – welcome to school
year 2008/09!
At this time of year, like the students, I too
inevitably experience the perennial feelings of
excitement of a new school year.
Like the autumn season in which it commences,
the start of the school year initiates change,
transition, and newness. |
|
We see it
on students’ faces and we feel it in the air - they
are excited about their new grade levels, new
teachers, new classmates, and new learning
opportunities.
It is the joint
responsibility of administrators, staff, and
parents, to maintain and continue to stimulate
students’ sense of excitement and anticipation for
education throughout the school year.
Here
at the Roselle Public Schools we pledge to make
every effort to “maintain and stimulate” students’
excitement about learning.
To further the goal of
exciting our students about their academic options
we are “maintaining” and building on the successes
of the 2007 – 2008 school year:
the College Awareness
Program, the Pharmacy Technician Program, the after
school program, the Roselle School Bulletin
Newsletter, free extended school day programs,
mentoring and good behavior initiatives, the
accomplishments of the ACHS athletic teams, the 30 –
point student achievement plan, and the increase in
the number of students who qualify for induction
into the National Honor Society.
We are preparing to
launch several new initiatives to “stimulate”
student learning during the upcoming school year:
Before the Bell Extended School Day Program,
construction of a new school building, a Parental
Participation Plan, upgraded athletic facilities,
and security guards in all Roselle Public Schools.
Yes,
“change and transition” is in the air and it is
positive and exciting.
We have a new board
president, the addition of new board members, and
several new administrators, all who will infuse new
enthusiasm into our collective efforts to educate
our students.
Our administrators and
teachers are excited about the new curricula and
prepared for the new school year with their
professional development training.
We hope that our parents
are prepared as well by ensuring that their children
have
Home
Learning
Centers,
study schedules, and school supplies.
Let us remember that in
order for
Roselle’s students to attend
an
Institute
of Excellence
we must all play our individual roles in this joint
endeavor.
Sincerely,
Dr. Elnardo J. Webster
