 Program Description
The Health Occupations Program is a sequential three year program at Abraham Clark High School.  This twenty one year program has received many awards for excellence including the following:

          • I have been the teacher/coordinator of the Health Occupations Program at Abraham Clark High School for the past 21 years.  I am a  Registered Nurse with degrees in both Nursing and Education. I have had experience as a Surgical Assistant and Pediatric Nurse, along with my extensive experience in the area of Health Occupations.  I have worked in over 35 hospitals and 4 nursing homes during the past 25 years.  My newest passion is Distance Learning.  I teach two Health Careers courses on a daily basis via Interactive Television and I also serve as a consultant for many public school districts in the area of Distance Education Training. I serve as a facilitator for the  Professional Development Series with Rutgers University  and I serve as the liaison coordinator with Fairleigh Dickinson University Middle College Program with Abraham Clark High School. I am the recipient of the following awards: Governor's Teacher of the Year Recognition Award, Who's Who Among America's High School Teachers, Douglas College Award for Dedication to the Teaching Profession, Princeton University Award for Teaching Excellence, New Jersey School Boards Association Award Recipient for Development of Outstanding Health Occupations Program, EMAF Award Recipient as Program Developer for Outstanding School to Business Partner Programs , Outstanding Equity Achievement Equity Leader of the Year, Volunteer of the Year Junior League of Montclair-Newark, New Jersey Best Practice Recipient as Developer of Health Occupations Program in the area of School To Careers.
          • One of my hobbies is writing, and I serve as a freelance writer for the Nursing Spectrum Magazine.
          • I also like to sail and serve as the Rear Commodore of Surf City Yacht Club in Surf City, New Jersey.
          •  I  spend most of my free time with my two sons on Long Beach Island in our summer home.

          1. How do you personally feel about the living will? 2. Should there be laws developed against this practice & why?3.Would you consider life support on yourself or your family members?
          4.How do you feel about the No Code rule?
          5.You can find information about this topic under Advanced Directives or Durable Power of Attorney or Living Will. Use the Internet, school library, or local library.

          November 2, 2000 Answer the medical abbreviations that will be provided by your teacher.
